Ia there a name for a technique where you increase dynamic range and reduce glare when shooting against the Sun by physically covering just the Sun and then bringing it back in post?
Like literally holding a dangling dot on a string or something similar to fight the veiling glare and increase the dynamic range?

I use a baseball cap. I don't know that the technique has a name.
Especially useful when shooting with an iPhone. Newer iPhones have flare like crazy.
