How to get around?

We are flying in to Venice but doing a wine tasting in Veneto. Thoughts on staying in Venice or in Veneto? I saw there is a train from Venice to Veneto but what is the best way to get from the train station to our actual destination?

Should we forego the train and rest a car? What if we don’t speak/read Italian?
