Admin being the Thought Police

Policy & Politics

I hate graduation. It's a personal opinion, and I'm not saying it should be abolished.

Yesterday our admin had us do 'graduation practice,' where we literally just walked half a mile to the football field and leave. Took an hour. There was some grumbling, which is to be expected.

Today our principal sent out a school wide e-mail essentially chastising us for bemoaning the triviality of it all. How it's an 'honor and privilege' to participate in graduation and we need to bring our 'very best attitude and effort' to graduation. If it's such an honor, then why is it mandatory?

I don't mind, truthfully. It's one of those things you have to do. It's just the insinuation that we're not allowed to have our own thoughts and feelings that upsets me.
