Healthy relationship with BPD after years of therapy?

Hi folks, first post here and TiA for reading…

TL;DR- can a person with BPD have a healthy and stable relationship after 4 years of committed therapy? Or rather, how likely is it?

Longer context: I’ve been dating a man diagnosed with BPD for a few months and we have a very strong mutual attraction. We really like each other too:) He’s been very open about his mental health challenges and told me about his diagnosis early on. He said he has been in weekly therapy for 4 years and it’s helped him immensely. I know he’s had issues in the past with jealousy, control, trusting people and clear communication, but I can tell he’s working hard on all of that— esp. the first 2 things. We have had some communication issues, but that’s also somewhat normal in the beginning of a relationship where you don’t have established norms around text/ call frequency, response times, etc… I guess my biggest concern is if he could “split” or turn on me suddenly, as I do have my own anxiety (generalized anxiety disorder), and it would be hard for me to lose him suddenly with no explanation… so I’m basically at a point where I am trying to decide whether to take this thing further or if it could be too risky for my own mental health. I really like this person and want to know him more deeply, but don’t want either of us to come out more hurt / damaged if it doesn’t work out.

So TL;DR again, I am interested in hearing from folks who’ve been in a relationship with someone who has BPD after they engaged in years of successful therapy? How was it? Any tips?

Thank you so much for your input!
