Are software engineers students provided with a laptop or do they need to carry their own laptop?

Hello, any comp sci students here? Just want to ask if personal laptops are needed during class or do they provide you one (like borrow one during class)?

I have a desktop and I dont really want my parents to buy me a laptop just for school purposes.
