How long do away teams typically last?

I've been working at a DS for over a year now and during my time there I've been a learning ambassador, I was a IA driver Trainer this past peak and recently accepted an offer letter for PA at a SSD building that was expected to launch mid June. Today my hiring manager informed me that the launch was delayed towards late July -early August. Since SSD buildings are a FC/DS mix I would like to familiarize myself with the FC side and think an away team would be a good opportunity to do so. How long does an away team typically last? Is it possible coming from different type of building? Currently I'm not an ambassador but I dont have the PA title until July, am I still a good candidate?
