How does it work for the sound systems in the concert?

I watched tool live in cologne last night. It was a surreal experience!!!

But I could hear a lot of noise from Adam's it was too saturated. I would like to know if this due to the venue's old ass sound systems which are not capable of amplifying such frequencies or is it due to the location of my seat ?
Has anyone experienced this?
