Is it just me, or does it feel like random encounters become much less frequent in later chapters?

I’ve started the game over and it’s like every time I ride out of camp, someone with a snake bite, a stranded lady, bounty hunters transporting a criminal, and hunters stuck in bear traps pop up out of nowhere.

But in the later chapters, I hardly see any of that kind of action. Anyone else notice the same thing?
