Short attention span seems to play a major role in lots of today mental health problems
I've been doing some reading of studies and listening to experts and apparently it works like this: if you're engaging in short term "fun" such as watching youtube videos, tiktok or just browsing the internet back and forth, your brain adjusts and expects the dopamine hit alsmost right away. And if there is none, your brain will urge you to just continue and make you never stay on anything for a long time. Because of this, when you then try to engage on some long term activity, you won't enjoy it, because your brain is in a mode where if you're not having fun right away, it stops concentrating. This makes people's attention span shorter and shorter as time goes and your ability to really enjoy anything shrinks, sometimes to a point that whatever isn't an instant fun is boring.
And as a result of all of that, not being able to enjoy anything leads to anxiety and depression.
There is no question from me. I just thought people should know this to be aware.
