"Rain" allegedly ripped off
I feel this truly is not much more than a ridiculous goose chase, but I'm curious if anyone knows about this more than a scant mentioning of names and a dumb argument. I posted on Twitter (yeah I know) about wanting to listen to The Beatles song "Rain" among others while skateboarding responding to a picture of the quote "If The Beatles were so good, How come I never heard them in Tony Hawk Pro Skater?" and an individual decided to jump into the thread saying his "Uncles wrote and published a song that Rain was clearly stolen from. But they loved The Beatles and never did anything about it" with zero evidence save from a picture of a record of copy written music at the Library of Congress of a song by a one Michael Klepper called "I WATCH THE RAIN" and the name of the supposed woman who sings it, Diane Peppe. (this is Google book entry of the supposed song record).
I find it extremely hard to believe there are no records aside from this on the internet of a German Wikipedia article about the German Composer Walter Michael Klepper and zero connection with a supposed Diane Peppe and being a signer (the individual responded to this with only "maybe they took her out" whatever that may mean)
Am I being made a fool of here or is this truly a nothing burger of a baseless claim that John Lennon and Paul McCartney ripped off a couple of nobodies to write one of my favorite Beatles songs? (forgiveness please if this is the wrong place to post this, I only ask that I be directed to the proper subreddit for something like this)
