is this a thing? I thought AMG models used two numbers.

You can get an amg badge for a lawnmower if you want
Or a gas station
wow that's actually cool ngl
Wtf
CLS550 uses a 402-hp 4.7-liter V8. The more aggressive AMG CLS63 4MATIC has a 577-hp 5.5-liter bi-turbo V8
MB probably has a "AMG package" without any performance increase, get a little mors $$ for a couple cheap badges
There is the AMG-Line but there are never badges included, not even variations of the original emblem unlike at Audi or BMW
AMG line includes different optics and suspension etc.

There are, just not on the bodywork.
Up badging
CLS 550 isnt good enough on its own.. gotta slap a fake amg badge on it ..
Remember seeing those W211 E550/E500 (no amg badge) and be like damn, this should be a fast car, which they were, just not as powerful as an AMG obv.
Should be a CLS63 if its real
My dad had a CLK320 with the AMG Sport package and there was a tiny AMG logo on the front fender from the factory. Otherwise nothing
Not an amg
Ok, real question about that because I seen a few in this era Mercedes. Did Merc sell the option to put badges on the cars like an S “Series” trim badge on Audi. My neighbor has a w211 with only an AMG badge but I don’t see him the type to upbadge so I really wonder if it came that way. Still trying to get the story from him because I have been looking for a w211 AMG BUT to me it looks more like a 350.
If youre in doubt then its not an amg ,lol an amg will very much make itself obvious to you.
Well what does the badge say? Does it say E350, or did he remove the E350 and it only has the amg badge?
Only AMG and it is in the left side, thought AMG lived on the right… tail pipes are twin but singles, thought AMGs all had duel on each side.
Yeah that’s not an amg haha. You’re right, the amg logo is only on the right side.
For most cars, mercedes made AMG packages. Doesn’t mean they’re actual AMG though. It just includes like wheels, badges, and I think an engine tune too. Still has the regular badge though, like for example, a clk320 with an amg package would say clk320 (not just clk32) and then have the amg badge and rims.
Also, those tailpipes do not look AMG quality by any stretch of the imagination. Missing the performance exhaust
The AMG badge seems easy off
nah it's a poser, fake amg
nope but there was a CLS55 AMG that used the M113K.
Plot twist:it’s a downbadged 63 that he never took the amg badges off of
Wasn't precisely the point of the CLS550 not being an AMG? Meaning, a classy and non-sporty high-powered sedan?
Yea thats a badge, but usually u can tell from the exaust too. AMGs usually have 4 and the AMG badge is on the top of it
Why you’d feel the need to upbadge a cls is beyond me…
I always thought the AMG trim incloded the badges.
I mean a dealer probably put that badge on and told the customers it’s an AMG. Makes it an easier sale
It's just a Mercedes USA thing. I don't know why US specs of Mercedes' of this time almost all had sport body kits, sport suspension and sport everything. Why don't you guys in the US enjoy a classy Merc for comfort, and get a real AMG if you want a sporty car. Kinda sucks that this shitty sport car trend is now following in all their other international markets.
It's an upbadge. There's no such thing as a CLS550 AMG. These badges are usually either installed by the dealer to get some marketing done or installed by some yobbo who thinks they're impressing someone. Given your other comment mentioning the owner was an older person, I'm inclined to believe it's the former. Most of these guys don't know, don't care, and/or don't wanna go through the effort of removing the badge.
Thanks, makes sense. But it's a shame to have to upsell that car -- it struck my eye as soon as I pulled into the parking lot. Very handsome car.
It really is a shame, only people who know that dude doesn't own an AMG are car people, the only people who care about it being an AMG are car people...it's already a nice car!
You're right. Dealerships gonna dealership though.
Pretty an AMG-Line, they come with the badges from factory but aren’t AMG models, just a trim level.
AMG badges are not factory installed on non AMG cars.
