Dear Bungie. Stop being so damned lazy with how raid guns are acquired.

Discussion

Divinity recently came up, again. That in its turn made me think of the Xenophage, as well as Wish-ender. What do these have in common? There is no RNG element to aquiring them, they're both behind relatively tough missions and require multiple steps to happen before you can go get them.

This is a great way to do rare guns. Make it tough, drawn out, and with an actual quest.

Contrast that to the three latest raid weapons... what a joke, to be honest. The raid weapons are nothing but an idiot grind, get in there and run the raid until the sun flames out and maybe, possibly, if you're lucky they'll drop through no effort of your own beyond grinding the raid mindlessly like an automaton.

Please stop this approach. It sucks. Put some people on designing actual exotic quests again and make it fun and challenging to get the guns. Not boring, grindy and mindless.

As much as I miss unique quests like touch of malace, wish ender ect. The rng does give players more incentive to repeat raids. Sure it can get repetitive and tiring at times, but that's just grinding in a nutshell. Is it lazy? yeah can't lie, but if you want the exotic badly you'll grind for it and if you don't that's lazy on your part. If you enjoy the game it won't be a problem.

Exactly. I got Mythlocast on week 3 and was finished completely with the raid once I was done with the last master challenge.

I have zero reasons to go back to VOG besides maybe pinnacle for the first 3 weeks of a season.

You will get it eventually. I still haven't got my vod exotic and I usually get the raid exotic to drop on my 6th run, I've done like 20 by now

Agreed! Not that I want any of the other new weapons (Mythoclast dropped after my fifth VOG run). And Vow is just too much of a shitshow with "The Upended" encounter to be fun in any sense of the word to justify running ad nauseam.

People being guaranteed to get divinity on their first try is why barely anyone does that raid. All the inexperienced players are left on their own with outdated knowledge of the raid so they get stuck for 6 or 20 hours.

RNG is healthy for raid population. …However there should be some sort of bad luck protection. I didn’t get mythoclast till my 50th or so clear I’ve heard of other people in their 90 clears without it. I’m on my 30th clear of vow with no exotic.

But I’m not upset. The game can be easily played without raid exotics. They do nothing in real life. No need to take the 1’s and 0’s so seriously

We need more exotic quests like The Presage: challenging, thematic, and fun

Less like Xeno where its just go here do that then go over HERE and do THIS and then get 400 kills with your thumb up your ass then take the Drifter to the movies and yawn and stretch but really you’re sneakily putting your arm across his shoulders and he leans in and kisse-

I got distracted but you get my point

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. I agree with you.

Nothing but an idiot grind

Make it tough, drawn out, and with an actual quest.

Exotic glaives fill both these requisites. Go crazy, idiot.

Just another case of people complaining about playing the game, if you don't want to play then why did you buy the dlc/season pass?

Although I do agree lots of people complain about meaningless things on this sub despite putting money in to the game I do kind of agree with this guy. I feel like making raid exotics rng is a lot more boring than having a hard quest to battle through, esp when it involves changing the way you play the raid/dungeon to complete the quest. Doing all the puzzles and stuff for div was such a blast compared to when I got bed to drop from VOG. The satisfaction of quest completion makes getting the gun all the more entertaining. Because you actually put in calculated effort to get the weapon rather than just repeating a raid for the most sought after exotics the same way you repeat any other activity for any other legendary gun. It kinda kills some of the exoticness of raid based exotics compared to other world drop exotics imo

There is a difference between doing an interesting quest, which is rewarded with interesting weapon and mindless grind. OP is right. Touch of Malice, Outbrake Prime - it was fun to acquire those weapons. On the other hand - Collective Obligation... VotD is fun but after 40+ clears NO ONE on my squad saw it... we might as well never see it and that's just stupid + unfair.
