Community Token ship chests should award gold instead of credits for duplicate ships
For players who care enough to play PTS credits from duplication is worthless. Community Token chests should at least compensate duplications in part with gold.
For example, based on past token awards from PTS, a t7 chest would require about ten pts testing phases to gain, that's an enormous amount of dedication to only get a few million credits.
Are there any duplicate drop protection?

They used to give doubloon compensation. That lead people to farm tens of thousands of free dubs.
PTS isn't the only source of tokens. The recruitment program can give you a lot more than the PTS. Your dedication in the PTS means you get a premium ship. The compensation for having all of them is just an afterthought.
You always get a ship you don't yet have from the drop list. Only after you've gotten all the drops you start to get the credit compensation.
And more specifically, led to people buying the t5 crate even after they got all available ships rather than buying the t7 (and likely not buying the t7 crates at all). Buying t5 crates for doubloon compensation was cheaper than buying the t7 crates directly, allowed you to choose exactly what ship you got, and the fixed compensation meant you could even get some of the cheaper t8s for the ‘same’ CT price as a t7.
I’m sure most players liked the doubloon compensation part, especially when they learned about that loophole. And with the pricing to compensation ratio, I wouldn’t be surprised if the planners at WG either weren’t aware of it or didn’t consider that people would intentionally spend CTs on ‘duplicate’ ships.
I’d wonder if allowing the doubloon compensation actually resulted in a noticeable increase in players participating in CT earning activities (particularly PTS for those that didn’t do a lot of recruiting). Just like I’m sure there was a PTS increase when they were offering the premium crates after completing all three sessions each season. Yes it was generating ‘free’ doubloons with a better conversion rate at WG’s expense, but earning those tokens required a certain level of participation that may not have happened otherwise.
Either way, as soon as the threads started pouring in about how to abuse the compensation rules, I knew the crates would be on their way out or compensation would be changed.
*raises hand*
Sorry not sorry :p
When they were selling Tier 5 containers the first time around, I looked at the list of ships, realised I was only missing 2 ships from that list = after that I could convert tokens into doubloons.
Even worse, one of the ships I was missing cost less in doubloons than the compensation from the containers, so I was able to buy that ship, get the last ship from the list and from my 2nd container onwards I was making doubloons.
I do feel bad at other players missing out on this 'life hack' , but *looks at a small pile of doubloons* , I'm not sad that I got 'free' doubloons out of WG.
And to answer a unspoken question, If the containers still gave doubloon compensation I would still be buying the Tier 5 containers for doubloons instead of Tier 7 containers where I don't have all the ships on that list. Being able to choose what I get (spending doubloons) is a luxury I've gotten too used to :p
