My friends say that I am balding but I very obviously have a normal amount of hair. Just looking for some confirmation on my end I guess that they are joking and there is nothing abnormal about my hair

I first want to say that it sounds like you’re taking your friends comments very personally. But if you’re going to ask your question on a public forum, I would do you a disservice by lying to you. The reality is that you are experiencing androgenetic alopecia aka genetic hair loss. You are what is referred to as a diffuse thinner. Whereas you still have a lot of hair on top of your head, it’s a lot thinner than it used to be which is why your scalp can be seen through your hair.
Of course, there are solutions to make your hair thicker and fuller however, if you are confident with the head of hair you have, then there’s no reason for you to do anything.
Your hair doesn’t look bad at all, it’s just a little thin. I agree that it’s very normal for somebody 47 years old. I’m very close to your age and I would actually be completely 100% bald it wasn’t for the four hair transplants that I’ve had. Now, I have essentially no signs of thinning when I wear my hair up in a man bun and even when my hair is short, it looks thick in the front and the midsection with only some mild thinning in the crown. Like I said, there are solutions if hair loss bothers you but it doesn’t, that is no reason to do anything other than laugh off your friends comments.
Ultimately, you should be confident in yourself because hair does not make the man :-)

I’m sorry, your friend is right. I’m not gonna be rude/mean like a few commenters here but it’s thinning & if you don’t take care of it now it’ll only get worse. Talk to your doctor so he can give you oral fin & just spray a 1/2 cap full of min on your hair twice a day & you should be good for regrowth. You’re way too young to have it that thin. I’m super hairy everywhere & my hair didn’t even start thinning like that until I was 32.

It's normal for an American, but Canadians normally have extra hair growth for the cold weather. I'd go see a specialist.
