Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our [feedback guide](https://new.reddit.com/r/ocpoetry/wiki/feedbackcritiques), or look

not that great?

your style rankles my finer sensibilities, but it definitely screams style.

keep on practicing, friend.

I appreciate the feedback. I know I’m not really that great but I’m practicing

absolutely horrid.

the stanza development is positively basic. the descriptions of death and decay acrid. the simplicity of the Rule of Three case-examples absolutely revolting.

continue to write terrible poetry like this, and we'll see what becomes of the rest of your life.

Thank you for responding :) it was a poem about being sexually abused, I just tend to compare myself to a prostitute a lot as I would feel as though I was selling myself to the man who abused me for a place to stay. I guess that isn’t really clear from the poem. I’ll take into consideration what you said about the snakes. I might end up changing it. Thanks for the feedback! I deleted it because the last comment got me a little self conscious

I must agree with a previous commenter in exactly one respect, *viz.,* that your descriptions of rotting organs are truly revolting, though (I can only presume) scrupulously accurate; but the power to disgust is itself a great achievement, and one which I think is well worth perfecting, whether for its own sake or for the sake of being able to more effectively induce revulsion in one's readers toward whatever else may be mentioned along with the object of disgust itself (in this case coerced prostitution?). I think the best of your three organ-descriptions is the kidney, in that it surprises the reader with the unexpected reality of advanced decay; the liver, with its maggots and sludge, is a close second, while the heart, I must say, feels a little derivative of the latter. You are too good at these descriptions for me to offer much meaningful advice, but if I had anything to suggest it would be to lean a little more on the soft, pasty texture of decaying flesh -- the most we hear of

I threw up my liver today
