Submarine
Today is the penultimate day of school And it started out with laughter. A fun fact about a sandwich.
‘Did you know in NYC, a sub is called a hero? Because the hero saves the people, like from their hanger’
Then we spent way too long discussing If hanger should be word. Not like an airplane hanger!! No no, we said: If angry can be anger and hungry can be hunger, why can’t hangry be hanger?
On the penultimate day of school, We lingered and laughed, because tomorrow signaled the start of summer.
I sent them all off with some squeezing hugs and ‘I love you’, and a ‘I can’t wait for tomorrow’
But now? Now. Some one thousand one hundred miles away Someone decided that the last days of school which should be full of Pain Anger Fear Yet again
Today started with a joke about a hero. How do I tell them tomorrow That not all hero’s can save the day
Hello everyone.
My heart is so heavy right now.
I teach 2nd graders. I cannot imagine, I don’t want to imagine a life without my beautiful wonderful students.
I’m at a loss. Words will never be enough to explain and process the tragic and needless loss of life, but I had to do something to find an outlet.
Hug your babies tomorrow. Tell them you love them.
