Disability insurance refuses to pay

Question

I was tested positive with Covid 2 months ago and was sick for 3 weeks. Since then I have had issues with brain fog, fatigue, confusion and bouts of depression.

You know what I am talking about, obviously.

I am trying to get my short term disability insurance to accept that I am not making this up. My FMLA extension is under review.

The short term disability insurance only accepted to pay for a few days and will not pay me until I can provide objective evidence of my condition.

What is the best method to get a proper diagnostic to confirm that I am not inventing the symptoms and looking to just be paid to stay home and watch TV?

I am trying to join a neurologist at the moment, possibly a neuropsychologist as well.

Thanks a lot in advance!

I can't even get doctors to believe what's going on so I'm not surprised it's hard to get disability for it.

Yeah my PCP would not sign on the FMLA approval until I insisted.

His notes to the next specialist I see is that I think that I have "long-haul Covid".

I’m curious, who’s your short term disability provider?

I just filed my request to MetLife yesterday so I’m waiting to see how difficult this process is or not. I was diagnosed with long Covid and POTS at the long Covid clinic at a local university, and with MCAD via an allergist/immunologist. Have an appointment with a new cardiologist next month and and neurologist in August.

Yeah I need to find a long covid program locally in Phoenix.

It seems my PCP was a bit doubtful at first but I listed the conditions and I think it read a bit like a recipe.

I was sick march 2020. My doctor wrote me out and short term went thru easily. Kept extending it for a year. Now i just filed for social security disability. Sure thats gonna be impossible to get but gotta try something. Hope your able to get it going.

Thanks.

I can live on the STD payments, actually, with a shoestring budget, without eating my savings.

I'd rather be productive but, as a software engineer, I found myself unable to conduct my daily job with that stupid condition.

Shit I'm over 2 years and still have horrible brain fog, fatigue and other issues. Hope yours clears up soon.

Me too.

Thank god my supervisor believes me. We lost one coworker to Covid, and one lost her BIL to it.

So people know it's no joke.

Go to a “post covid long haul” type clinic. That’s the best evidence. I got a year of short term state disability but I had to fight for it. Lots of stupid forms.
