Opinions on the housing lottery

I've been wondering lately what people's perspectives are on the BU lottery system for housing. Is it fair ? Might something else make more sense, or are there suggestions about how the University could improve that system ? What are the pros and cons ? What are people's thoughts on internal selection/same room selection for especially sought after dorms (i.e. bay state, stuvi, south campus etc) ?

I personally understand the frustration with it and also acknowledge that there's not really a perfect way to do housing on any campus, especially one as crowded as BU's. I just really wanna hear people's opinions if you've got em !
