Digging My Own Grave
I dug my own grave eight years ago
But I never fully climbed in
I rolled the dice with the god of death
But I knew I would never win
I gathered the flowers with each passing year
Pledging to take my own life
Hades laughed when I knocked on his door
He wouldn’t give me the knife
The roses wept when nightfall arrived
The darkness freezing each thorn
The leaves grew stiff and the petals grew cold
Until my death, they would mourn
I shattered the ground and sank in the soil
Breaking under its weight
Try as I may, my heart persevered
I couldn’t choose my own fate
The goddess of love looked down upon me
She couldn’t find my soul
I bid her goodbye and refused her mercy
Every gift came with a toll
I dug my own grave eight years ago
Now I simply need to climb in
I pray to my God to halt my heart
Life is a game I’ll never win
