20 gamer signing a 5 year contract is pretty interesting.

On one hand, sure, it's a big call to make.
On the other hand we drafted him for his reliability, his intercept marking, his high quality kicking out of defence that he showed in u-18s. He immediately brought that to Freo, stepping up to AFL level without a hitch, and is easily best 22 even with so few games under his belt, and in a very crowded Freo defence. He couldn't have done anything more to prove himself. I have no anxiety whatsoever about a longterm contract.

How is he? Draft year I was big on him but never get a chance to watch him (despite the obvious opportunity arising this weekend)

Missed a lot of games in his first two years due to injury. Is now a reliable best 22 defender. Excellent kick, strong overhead mark and reads the play beautifully. Needs to work a bit on his contested ball use when the pressure is up but that's nit-picking for a 21yo who's only played 21 games so far.

not even our best young defender but nah he’s pretty good, really great mark, has the ability to pull off ridiculous kicks but he has also pulled off some absolute shockers too, only played the 2 dozen games so still plenty of room to grow, already looks very comfortable at the level

Yes he is our best young defender, I’d argue that when healthy he’s our best young player outside of Brayshaw and Darcy (yes I think he’s better than Serong)
