WIBTA if I do someone else's part of the group work for them?
I am on mobile so forgive any errors. Also English is my third language so that too.
I am part of a group project for my Uni, originally, the group had 4 members and we had shared Questions within the group equally around the group (a number of research questions, everyone got the opportunity to choose the question that played to their strengths). I quickly got my part of the work done since i can sometimes get busy. Another guy dropped out of the school for personal reasons that he didn't state, of the remaining 3 members, I collaborated with the other guy who seems focused (lets call him Focused) on his work and completed the dropout's original portion of the work. The remaining group member, (let's call him X) has been really silent, if we host a Teams meeting to discuss progress and brainstorm, he usually joins voice only or if he participates, he usually goes off on tangents that noone can understand or asks questions that everyone assumes are basic knowledge in order to be taking this subject/unit. Up to now he had not shown us any part of the work that he has done and kept giving excuses. A few days ago while he has sharing his screen he asked another of those tangent questions and i asked him to check his email for full details, when he did, I saw an email with his results for the previous individual assignment and they were really worrying. So much so that Focused and myself are considering doing his work for him (I have actually already started).
To make matters worse, X just sent me an image showing how much work he has done, and to be honest it felt like a lot of words just thrown together with a few references here and there. So my question is, Will be the AH if I go ahead with this?
And also, regardless of the fact that it mightnt seem like a lot to me and Focused, X has undoubtedly invested some time into putting his word soup together and having someone dismiss it will hurt regardless, how do I navigate this?
