Anyone else feel like a hypocrite?

Discussion

I am struggling as a leader. I will execute and enforce all these Big Navy initiatives, but it is so hard sometimes. I just don’t feel like there is any awareness and/or concern at the top about the optics from the bottom.

I just posted the MyNavyHR Facebook post about the rank tabs to my unit’s Facebook and it just felt so pointless. What problem is this fixing? I tell my Sailors at quarters that it’s “mental health awareness” month and there’s no stigma to seeking help, but as I’m saying that I’m thinking about my own mental health referral that’s languishing in the system due to a lack of resources. I tell my Sailors to check their LES and get their PHA done, knowing full well and acknowledging to them that our command’s unclassified NMCI workstations are barely able to accept a login attempt, let alone browse the web. Best I can do is recommend they get CAC readers for their home computers, if they can even afford one. The Navy is trying to save a few pennies on the dollar by shutting down PSDs and shifting to the TSCs, but it’s essentially gutting my own ability to fix pay problems without going to NMCRS to help young families bridge gaps in their BAH pay.

I feel like the whole Navy is hurtling towards a force-wide crisis and the CNO and other upper level leadership is completely disconnected and living in their own version of reality.
