Pacman invalid or corrupted database (PGP Signature)

Hello, trying to do "sudo pacman -Syu" on my desktop running arch returned :

After searching around for a solution, what worked was either removing the <*.db.sig> files from /var/lib/pacman/sync or deleting the sync folder and letting it regenerate WITHOUT the .sig files by running pacman -Syu.

However, editing de Siglevel to Required (removing the DatabaseOptional option), this no longer works. For this reason and from the research I had done, I was worried this solution leaves my system vulnerable so I decided to check if the arch install on my laptop, which was pretty much a fresh install only a couple of weeks old, had those .sig files.

To my surprise, not only were those files missing, but I got the exact same error from "sudo pacman -Syu" as I did on my desktop, despite the fact that removing those same files on the desktop had been the solution there.

Could anyone help me make sense of this, and help me fix the issue without leaving my systems vulnerable? Thank you very much

first update your mirrors with reflector or something,

then do ->

sudo pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring && sudo pacman -Syyu

if that doesnt work do ->

sudo rm -rf /var/lib/pacman/sync
sudo pacman -Syyu

I tried both and while it does solve the error: GPGME error: No data issue, the .sig files didnt return. Thank you though

Your "Arch" install from a couple of days ago having database .sig files is a sign you are not using Arch Linux. Arch does not sign their databases currently. If you are getting signatures, it is another distribution...

The default configuration in Arch Linux of "DatabaseOptional" is set for that reason.

If the .sig files werent supposed to be there then I don't know what I did to get them there, but it's arch, no doubt about that.

Not sure this will fix it, but you can try sudo pacman -Dk and sudo pacman -Qk.
