I loved this poem. I think I got what you meant in it, and even if I didn't catch the intricacies I think I understood the point, and I liked how you passed it.
but for constructive criticism, I want to say I don't really like the apostrophe shortenings (language barrier. I don't know what's that called in english. I'm talking about the 'bout and 'till things)
I can totally see where you're coming from with the shortenings. But I feel that on the other hand, if you do understand them, they add sense of personality to the poem that's very refreshing! In my opinion, at least :)
Thank you for your feedback, I’m glad you enjoyed it.if you don’t mind me asking, what is your interpretation of the poem?
And thank you, I’ve never thought of how my poems with those shortened words could be read by people whose first language isn’t English.
Pretty much the only reason I shortened words was for the flow (less syllables), except for “stressin’”, as it rhymes a lot better with “pressed in”
Oh, the problem isn't that I didn't understand the shortenings, I just didn't like the way they flow in the poem. The language barrier is that I don't know what's the name of such shortenings. But yeah, I understand the way they contribute to the rhyme.
The last few lines pretty much fully describe my interpretation of the poem.
Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).
If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.
If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback.
