What are your recommended Red Talon Contractors?

Question

Looking for recommendations on good Red Talon traits. I've hired a few, but it always feels like I could do better.

The ones I've tried so far:

  • Demolitionist - The higher stack limit is alright, but the provided Knowledge is kinda meh for me.
  • From an Armored Unit - Really good bonuses for cars, so I thought this one was a good pick. However, I replaced this one with a survivor with Vehicle Delivery.
  • Forager - Gardening, food + meds income, and less food consumed overall? Sounded like a great deal to me.

That's it. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated :)

The hacker one for an extra outpost slot is good for me.

True. +1 Outpost slot is pretty unique, and it also gives Knowledge of Computers for the level 3 Command Center.

Overall, a good pick.

I like demolition as I always craft ammo. And there is hacking, one extra outpost is nice. I also have gut packing (-30% food consumption is decent on higher difficulty. Hero bonus is community +150 plague res which is also nice)

The thing about demolition is I can also get Knowledge of Munitions from the Military Enclave. That's why it seemed replaceable for me.

Hacking with the extra outpost definitely sounds nice. I can never have enough outposts after all.

Gut Packing sounds really nice. Since it gives Knowledge of Nutrition, I could also safely enact rationing if I really need it. The extra plague resistance would be nice to have as well.

I used demolition mainly because it made crafting c4 so much easier didn't need 2 people to craft it.

This

Understandable. I've personally never used C4 charges so I never got much out of my Demolitionists. Fortunately they're still in my legacy pool, so I can try those out in the future.

C4 takes out a plague heart pretty quickly

Hey bud I have 3 demolition, hacking, cook ,all 3 help a lot make things a bit more easy . And after having them I never want not to have a few on every team

Interesting. Somebody recommended those exact three before you did.

I guess those 3 are really popular then? I'm still unsure with demolitions, because I'm not a fan of Knowledge of Munitions and Electronics.

I love using C4 so if you would grab a different one but they come with plus 15 ammo storage. Any red talon people are worth grabbing when you can

Gut packing. Gives you +150 plague resistance once you unlock the hero bonus

Originally I was gonna get Gut Packing, but I settled on a Forager since they also provided a Food Consumption bonus. In the end, I might just replace the Forager with a Lichenologist and get a contractor with Gut Packing instead.

I like Hacking, Mobile Operations, Gut Packing and Fortifications. I actually like my Demolitionist as well as I always want Munitions anyway and Chemistry is one of the few community skills where I'm liable to double up to get both specializations.

I was a bit ambivalent on Fortifications but she's become one of my most useful legacy survivors, especially for starting new communities. She has a few really helpful bonuses that help get things up and running smoothly, which is cool especially because it ties directly to her traits and background.

Hacking and Gut Packing are definitely on my must-get list now. As for Mobile Operations, I've had one before but I replaced her with a regular survivor with Vehicle Delivery. Not sure if that's better, but having that command unlocked without needing to get lucky with a Mechanic Enclave is nice.

I just read up on Fortifications, and I see how it can be useful when starting out. It's not as useful once you have a neat base set-up, but free materials also sound nice.

As long as it is not field medicine, I go for high level warfighting with the second highest trait being heroism. This gives you a chance to get frontline exp. and vigil guard. If you have these traits and max cardio, this character will never get sleepy.

2
OrdinaryYesOP•

I actually have someone with that combo. -80% Fatigue severity right? I'm happy with just Vigil Guard since it's -1 Beds used, which is insanely good.

Yea if to have it, and max cardio that character will never get sleepy. The zzz’s will appear in your bar but never go down unless you are injured

Hacking Field Operations Infrastructure

I recently lost my field Operations chick to a bug involving deleting a community so I've been on the hunt for another one but Daybreak grind sucks.

Infrastructure is great for me but I know it's not the best.

OrdinaryYesOP•

Field Operations? I haven't seen that one before. What does it do?

1
Due-Comparison-6832Wandering Survivor•

Basically it is normally automechanics with 50% vechile endurance as a hero bonus. Alongside that you have +1 fuel per day, fuel efficiency, and fuel storage at the cost of -1 labor.

1
OrdinaryYesOP•

Ohh okay. It was called mobile operations for me. I have one of those already, but I ultimately replaced her with an automechnic with vehicle delivery.

Hacking is good for that extra outpost

Foraging is trash tho, only RT quirk skill without a specialization

OrdinaryYesOP•

Yeah Hacking just seems too good to pass up now.

I only got Foraging because it provides the less food consumption perk plus food and meds income. I realize now that I could just get a lichenologist for +2 meds then go for Gut Packing for the less food consumption.

or just get someone with Meal Plan Hero Bonus, -25% Food Consumption
