A few of my poems over the last couple years. Never thought of looking for a community till now. Hope you enjoy.
[Twilight]
Exploding waves escape the dying light,
A beautiful kamikaze attack on the impending night.
A war, a dance, and a fleeting sight,
Peace of darkness has ended the fight.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The shattered remnants of the conflict contain
Honey-touched sparkles, like the shine of the rain.
Magnificent canvas, no detail in vain,
The chain to the pain may no longer remain.

What obelisk dared to be so bold?
In our sight a warmth that leaves it cold.
Such round pale reminder of what we have sold:
Silver just does not compare to the gold.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
From the darkest of ashes, a phoenix does rise
Ruing the day that it had lost its eyes.
With benevolent vengeance the bright light buys,
The object that it knew was always the prize

[Daydreaming]
My mind fell through the floor,
Sunken castle of the Queen,
And my heart shivered at the fingertips
Of its caretaker.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Life continues
But I remain here,
Watching as reality shifts
Into utopia.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
To daydream, to feel
The buoyancy of the background noises,
Is a lonely sunset in June, but daydreams of you
Are the summer dawns waking by your side.

If I lay so still, so incredibly motionless,
That time moves on and light forgets,
Your image in my mind will still make my heartbeat
Shake the foundation of the Earth.

Does art thank the artist?
Does the brush stroke the painter with affection?
The love you made within me is a masterpiece
And thanks you with every smile.

[Fledgling]
My grandfather rescued a fallen fledgling
When I was six.
To be handed life itself, teeming with potential,
An unfurled rose barely containing the floodwaters
To his temporary splendor.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
He was no more than 2 ounces
And about as tall as my shoe.
Green and black streaks
Covered his gray wings.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The fledgling jumped on the couch, on my chest,
Bouncing and tilting its head as he stared at me.
He had become the child of a child.
Had clairvoyance possessed him with revelations Of a loving future?
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Two warm hands wrapped around him,
An embrace so strong,
It was only challenged by the bond
Created as my reflection stared back
From strangely bulging eyes, dull and empty.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
An impromptu ceremony was held
Next to the dumpster
Outside by the road,
His limp body held by the rock on which he lay
Defenseless.
My uncle said his heart had stopped.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I dreamed that night of the fledgling
Standing tall upon the rock,
Wings spread, tilted head as always,
Finally ready for flight.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The next morning, I ran outside
To see a bare rock and a bare street.
My grandfather hugged me as we walked back inside,
And smiled back when I told him how my fledgling
Was forever free
