Inflation is really hitting Appalachia

Discussion

For a '"free market" there is very little free thought in player prices. Nearly every vendor is selling the same products at near the same exact prices. The most common plans are a minimum of 100 caps now? Daily Ops plans and items are 1000+ The crappiest scrip weapons for 3k+ or god forbid it have 1 desirable prefix to it, than it will be 7k+. All you have to do is find someone selling alot of fixers they have left over from rolling gear to know how insane asking prices are and again on very weak rolls. Now, it is a free market and I can go just to the next vendor, which I do only to run into the same items at the same prices.

Whats worse is anything that even lightly falls in the uncommon section or slightly rare is hoarded and held onto in hopes of getting a legacy which it is not worth, the market sub is filled with awful attempts at getting a legacy for gear that is subpar or useful to newer players only. Overvaluation of items is the biggest problem here in caps and trade value. Six 3 star pieces with 2 decent rolls don't equal a legacy.

There was also the increases in stash and cap limit, once we got a 40k cap limit the prices got stupid, inflation. Of course with that bump came nothing to actually use caps on, caps eventually become worthless to most players unless you are running an Aristocrats build. You will soon run out of gold to buy and you will soon be unable to actually use caps to get the rarer items since they are rarely sold for caps. Caps will be used for the last T45 plan you will never use or for buying someones 40k "You're the asshole" note just because you are bored.

There is also the continued locking of items to our character, so while the player base changes and people become flush with caps the pool for merchandise stays the same as it has. Even the newer additions from the treasure hunt events are rarely found in vending machines. This is because a new item that is saleable is now itself rare, even if the drop rate for it isn't.

They continue to add new currency while adding nothing to the cap pool. Simply unlocking items like gauss weapons,SS armor for us to sell would bring something new to this side of the in game economy. Theres no reason to lock items permanently so that we can never sell them, I'm all for a time gate but at this point what good does keeping wastelanders content do aside from keep us forced to keep grinding? The plans can now be bought for gold so why are we kept from profiting for our hard work? Why should all the SS armor etc just get tossed in the shredder for an uneven return.

With Stamps coming I wouldn't be surprised if gold is the next currency to go to the wayside as new items will need stamps to get, but I guess as long as they keep adding past seasons items to the gold vendors people will still want gold except of course the people who play for the long term which I guess is the minority despite the lobbys suggesting otherwise.

Now there are still a few deals to be found and suitcases still get stuffed with loot but it is not as common as it used to be, the virtual capitalist and huckster loading up their machine with 3 star crap all in a bid to lure you to them for crappy deals on scrip or a spike board death trap to rob you of your un stashed loot await, and despite all that nothing can beat the feeling of finding a really good deal on a really good item even in Appalachia.

I sell to get stuff out of my stash, not to make money. I set plans and outfits at 10% of the default price, fusion cores at 20 caps for 100% charge, and ammo at 1 per (except for the really heavy or basically unsellable ammo, which is free freety-free).

Are you on pc ? I'm searching some full fusion cores for running my gatling/PA

It was always like that. You get nice deals every now and than. And I buy scrip occasionally for like 10-15c per. Sometimes you can get daily limit in one vendor for like 4-5k caps. It is also the end of season so no one who has cool stuff plays

Edit: I once talked to someone on this forum who said it is bad to check prices on fed76. He was arguing it is a bad game where he needs to go somewhere to know the price for ingame items. He was complaining he does not sell anything. Also when people are on max caps they don’t sell anything. Like I bought something and putted AriFFR Gatling gun for sale which was sold 15 mins later for 8k caps

It got bad after that xmas present dupe, once that happened and everyone was selling mounted head plans, player vending went to total shit.

The first year of player vending was a mix bag but with far better offers. People didn't know what things were worth and they just wanted to sell stuff, now everyone thinks everything is super valuable and they want every cap for it. I remember buying scout masks like crazy even after they became 'rare' and even got multiple legacy weapons in vendors, than it got to how it is. There is always a feeling out on price but now everything is the base value the game gives it on the low end when that didn't use to always be the case. Ivory grip plans and mole miner gauntlet plans shouldn't even be in a vendor let alone for base value.

Well that’s the player base. As I said not many are familiar with trading. And some sell stimpacks for like 20 caps. Prices are arbitrary and always were. I find nice items sometimes like Q50c gauss rifle for 5k caps. I found UnY/AP/Sent pieces in vendors. It is just a luck. I mean how many hours will thing like this stay in a vendor with experienced players around. Just bad luck my friend

If you want plans, you could simply play the game and get them, rather then shopping your way through the game.

It might be more fun, but I dunno.

ActiveInternetOP:megasloth: Mega Sloth•

Player vending and trading is a part of the game but you clearly didn't bother reading any of that as buying plans or not buying them isn't even the point.

I never said player vending wasn't part of the game.

You know what's also part of the game. Being able to set the price you want for the items in your vending. You seem fine with one aspect, but not with the other half of it.

So maybe you should bone up on your reading. And just go play the game.

The game is overly generous in everything.

This might be unpopular but i sell everything for 1 cap. Meds, Plans, Ammo, etc. I don't really need a lot so if you're on Xbox come on by! I'm located by the derailed subway...skyway train?

Most if not all of my plans are set at 5. Some of the event ones around 500.

Ammo is 1 cap

Nuke keycards are 50.

I've met a few good people. Some giga chad sold me 30 berry tats for 450 and gave me 200+ plans for free as long as I promised to keep the price he sold them at(5caps each).

I've personally never broken 1k with putting stuff up for sale. Generally go with the suggested price when put into a vendor. Usually try to keep radaway, ans stimpaks cheap as well for ne players.

I don't need scrip any longer so I give most of my lousy stuff away, and almost all of my camp plans go to the overseer's camp by the Wayward. I leave other plans in suitcases at train stations where new players might find them, same as junk and other unwanted stuff.

If I get a decent weapon (10k-20K+ according to the fed76 price guide) that I think someone might want I'll price it around 2k so that it's enough to discourage spontaneous grabbing and scripting in case someone happens by and wants to use it for their build. If it doesn't sell after a week or so I usually try to find a 50-80 level player and drop it for him and they can decide what to do next, but I generally try not to trash anything decent just in case someone wants to try it out.

I'm selling a few plans at the fed76 suggested prices right now to get caps for pails. If it works, good, if not that's fine, too. No one has to buy them, or they can if they want to stop hunting. Caps are easy to come by so if I - hypothetically - found something I really wanted like the Radioactive Barrel that never dropped naturally for me I'd pay 10-20K without hesitation.

I'm pretty anti-social, so I don't use the trading sub at all.

edit: typo

Maybe I don't have enough hours to give my opinion, but personnally it's not my experience in the way that I see a lot of different prices for the same items. Taking for example the Blood eagles outfit and hat, I've seen people selling it from 300 caps up to 6k caps each piece. Same goes for legendary "good" rolls (anti armor, explosive) or items used for scrap. Imo I think it depend a lot on the player itself, his builds and his stock of caps. That's also why I almost never buy an item I'm searching the first time, I'm sure to find the same for less somewhere else

Can mostly talk about the weapon trading/vendor aspect.

I don't see a big issue with people making subpar offers for legacies. Since it's a free market everyone values items subjectively. If subpar weapons are offered, no trades are made, at least for grolls and legacies. Sooner or later people come to understand that in 90% of cases you won't get the gun of your dreams by listing a bundle of 10+ weapons and that you have to focus instead on quality over quantity.

Frankly what I appreciate alot lately are scrip vendors. Low prices and decent numbers of scrippable legendaries save me alot of time which could be spent building or farming something else.

Saw a 3* junkies explosive fast reload gatling gun the other day.. the price was set to 31k caps. Its kind of ridiculous now? I haven’t found any worthwhile and fairly priced guns from vendors the entire time i’ve been playing this year.

GREVTHEFAITHFUL:fre: Free States•

I use caps to buy resources like lead, copper and steel since I'm a commando/heavy build preference I burn through 4000 caps worth of resources per play. I have most of what I need from bullion so now I just save up to get the extra companions. As for my shop, everything is 20% below recommended to move it quick. I pretty much stopped visiting other shops because I have most of the stuff.

1
Traveling_Norseman•

The cash market/real money trading are 100% to blame for this.

1

I for one still have great deals.

The problem is, the original player base that has legacies, "rare" (really just old) plans, and caps to burn aren't playing anymore. With supply lower and demand the same, prices go up. It's a sign of where the game is in its life cycle; the day 1 and many of the one wasteland players are gone, and the invaders from beyond players have taken the majority.

I sell 1 star legendarys for 500

2 star for 700

3 star for 1k.

Materials for 50 to 100 per item.

Serums for 500

Bullets for 1c a piece. Plans for 50 to 5k Meds for 50 a piece.

And I am constantly sold out.

-1†
fatDaddy21•

You're not selling out of serums at 500

3
Zren_Shadowsong•

I beg to differ sir.

-1
RandyEskimo•

Yeah thats pretty overpriced

1
General_Krieg:enc: Enclave•

Serums can be sold to npc vendors for 500 caps so that's more caps made than from player vendor

Player vendors are dead.

Rammadeus:mys: Order of Mysteries•

Mine aren't. i cannot spend the caps quick enough

6
Emotional_Boot4693:enc: Enclave•

That's nice, but for the vast majority of people player vendors are dead

-4
Rammadeus:mys: Order of Mysteries•

Then they need to look at what they're selling, how much it is, vendor location, and camp location.

2
yaksucks•

I frequently buy from vendors, and people frequently buy from mine. I don't think it's dead though I've also been on servers that are deadish guess it just depends.

falcon880535•

Tell that to the dude that just got 20k for a Q2525 plasma rifle😂 but yeah finds like those happen rarely

Emotional_Boot4693:enc: Enclave•

I gotta say, I find it interesting that I'm being down voted today whereas yesterday it was upvotes, same subject.

I don't care how many caps someone blew on your godroll. That's cool. But the fact of the matter, regardless of who dislikes it, is player vendors are dead. Only a handful of people manage frequent sales.
