Adam Sandler's many black eyes: 2011, 2014, 2022

Adam Sandler showed up at the 2011 People's Choice awards with a black eye. On the Tonight Show in 2014, he appeared with Drew Barrymore with a black eye, and last night June 6 2022, shows up again on the Tonight Show with a black eye. This time a cell phone, he says, made a sharp diamond shaped piercing under his left eye. In 2014 Drew Barrymore, accidentally made the same mark backstage, but seemed to brush it off as a joke when he told the story onstage. And in 2011, he said it was from playing basketball, but joked, "I wanted to go see The Black Eyed Peas and the lady thought I said, 'Black eye, please.'" Does anyone here know if this is a running joke made up with a really effective "bruise kit", or is his wife hitting him, or what? All three instances he was in the middle of promoting a rom-com. 2011 Just Go with It, with Jennifer Anniston, 2014 Hustle with Drew, and this time with Jennifer Anniston again for Murder Mystery 2.
