SolarFix were great with us last year too. They are obviously a business but the guy we had seemed to give us genuinely good advice, didn't upsell or bullshit us.

We’ve no immersion heater, so I don’t think that’s an option, unfortunately. 

I’ll be looking to add a Zappi charger though

We opted for something called an eddi which would send excess power into our immersion and heat the hot water tank before sending it back to the grid so we essentially have free hot water too which is great. 

You should ask if batteries are not a better option with the electric price increases recently!

Thanks for that. We’re probably about 3 months away from having the roof installed so we’ve a bit of time to get things lined up. 

I’m thinking the battery might pay its way if we change our tarried to allow cheaper evening costs, so we could load up the battery at that stage and use it the next day.

I had mine installed last November by solar fix NI. I think the guy David I dealt with was the company director but he was great. 

Talked me through all the options as well as answering any stupid questions I had. 

When I was installing mine I decided against a battery as there is currently no battery setup that would make financially viable sense as they’re all still so dear but I had my setup add battery readinesses in case they do come down in price in the future

I think there is a bit of a delay in getting new panels in at the minute with all companies so you might have a bit of a wait for installing

Has anyone here used an installer for new panels but bought their own solar and battery set up? 

Im looking at options for a new installation and there could be big savings on buying the panels and battery directly, then getting someone local to install. 

It might speed up the return of investment. 

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
