Start as Brandenburg, slowly conquer the required provinces to form Prussia. Flip to Protestant as soon as the decision if available. Form Prussia.

Imperative to get the TO provinces before Poland. I usually try and ally Poland/Denmark and Austria. Get Neumark through the event. With the mission Pomeranian Succession, you can try and subjugate Wolgast, giving you claims on Teuton lands. Use your allies (but don't let Poland take any land). Now you have the lands you need.

To continue this forward, becoming the HRE makes forming Germany insanely easy once you’ve formed Prussia. The only things holding you back at that point is AE and Gov capacity.

You could as well ally poland, declare war on TO and call poland as ally by granting land you do not give in the peace treaty. Of course poland will quit alliance after that, but you postpone the TO problem to a later point of time. After that you should have enough favor at least at austria.

But keep in mind, that you need to besiege the desired provinces. Otherwise you can not take them!

Even if Poland or someone else gets a TO province, if you’re allied to them and can get TO as a vassal you can use some favours to return any cores they lost. Was helpful in my BB game where Denmark stole a province

Just Google it

You don’t really need a guide. If you do, Ludi has a great video on it

The only advice I can give, your worst enemy is AE. So take land only from belligerent enemies in a war, even it’s tempting to take from regular allies

So no stealing bohemia/Silesia off the Austrians then?

The problem with that is that it's going to hamper your expansion within the HRE if you make an enemy of the emperor too soon, so I try to either beat them to it or hold off until I can dismantle the HRE. If your ultimate goal is to form Germany, the HRE is just in your way anyway.

Be careful with your opening moves, Neumark event only fires if you have fewer than 4 loans, so going indebted to the burghers will prevent it. You really need that event early On to claim wolgast, complete the show of strength mission to gain claims on the to. All before 1450, because Poland might attack the TO. Also taking all TO after taking all wolgast will get you a coalition, so I usually just annex the bordering with Poland to prevent them from attacking. Brandenburg start is very rng.
