What is the strongest human civilization that takes place in the future past? (Written about a future that takes place before 2022)

Challenge

For example, Blade Runner takes place in the distant year of 2019. Which story had the most optimistic view of where our species would be by now?

Gunbuster should be up there - the Exelion launch was in 2021, and while Gunbuster wasn't operational by that point they still had engines that could boost up to near-lightspeed in minutes and weapons that could kill Space Monsters.

Computers may be twice as fast as they were in 1973, but the average WWW thread is as drunk and stupid as ever.

There’s an action comics that portrays a world with flying cars, gravity pulsing ray guns as common tools for construction workers, streetlights that can put out fires, instant growing crops, space flight through the entire solar system, settlements on the ocean floor, etc.

All this and more… by the early 90s. Who knows where such a world would be in 2020.

Stargate human civ was fairly powerful, though mostly through adapting alien technology.

Could be independence day resurgence, takes place 20 years after the events of the original.

I actually forgot this part at the end: the alien sphere has asked humanity to lead her resistance and has offered them new technology in preparation for a potential counterattack on the Harvesters' homeworld.

George was born by now, but the series itself hasn't started yet. Don't worry, there's still time for our rich elites to build more skyscrapers that tower above us.
