Are joblots on eBay worth buying?

Discussion

I have never felt the need to buy anything on eBay, but I sometimes scroll through for ideas. I noticed joblots of CDs selling for dirt cheap. Has anyone bought these on eBay or somewhere similar and what has the experience been like? Were they in good condition, full of write-offs, or something in between?

I've never bought one of these job lots, but I'd imagine the overall quality and desirability of the albums will be pretty low. It's going to be stuff that wouldn't sell individually in a million years.

I have a feeling the item condition is likely not the first thing to think about with lots, but their contents.

Do the listings have pictures of the exact things being sold in each lot, or are they "blind box" lots where they just say it's X number of random CDs, with no way of knowing what's in each lot? The latter I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole. Things being sold in a blind box is very telling: it's junk the sellers can't get rid of and try to unload by putting that stuff in attractively priced blind lots and hope a schmuck comes along. If it was good stuff, they'd be showing the goods up front.

They do show pictures, but it’s unclear if what they are selling will be the same as what’s sent out.
