Planning a vacation with friends was pretty eye opening.
When my dad started his business we were really poor. Lived off my moms income from a factory job. Well my dads business took off and he did really well. I realized things were changing because my mom bought my brother Nike Air tennis shoes. This was 30 years ago lol so that was a big deal back then. I asked her if I could get a pair and she said yes. We normally just bought the cheapest pair they had. I realized things were different now.
Sec school.
Visiting g the houses of wealthy family/friends, also hearing them drop prices on stuff they bought
When my career shifted into an entirely different level of things after working for a long time. Along with different things it contextualized when I was a kid in an upper class family in ways that the scope of that in different things I didn’t really grasp at the time.
When my 5th Grade teacher made us all stand up and say what are parents did for a living, and i told the class i had 3 other siblings and only one of my parents worked part time as a waitress

It was my whole life LMAOOOOOO. But yeah it did teach me to work hard because my parents were immigrants and wanted the best for me and did what they could. It really humbles you

Realizing that, despite having a job with a good salary and full benefits, I will never be able to purchase another new vehicle. A new Honda Accord is over $25k, and a new F-150 pickup (even stripped down) costs what a small Cape/Bungalow house used to cost.
Social class is a weird thing. You can have two different people with similar opportunities and backgrounds make wildly different decisions at key points in their lives and end up in different social classes as a result.
