I like to say I’m vanilla to mask my love of chocolate so this checks out

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our feedback guide, or look through the comment sections of any other post here, or click the links to the author's feedback above. If you're not sure whether your comments are feedback, or you have any other questions, please send us a modmail.

this hits so hard to home, you managed to make it so wonderfully relatable and the word play is immaculate!! the metaphor for being in the center of the sun is so creative. im geussing this poem is about jealousy of another more popular girl, while you are unseen and you portray that so nicely

So there are a lot of contexts that describe the wanting coming from a female.

Could be a transgender person who identifies as a female, or perhaps a female that has low esteem or desires much.

I do not know if the "she" is an actual example or just an ideal image.

But I can tell that the person hopes or yearns for much but somehow feels like she is unable to achieve it or does not feel like she can deserve it

The title fits the poem and for me it also adds that „I“ has a very low self esteem & it’s difficult for them to accept that how they see themselves.

Second of all, the anaphora in this poem is beautiful.

About the metaphor of the sun: „She is the center sun“ - Does that indicate that there are different suns and she is the main one? And that „I“ doesn’t belong to these suns? Or is it more like a pause „She is the center - (the) sun“? Very ambiguous!

This piece is a dagger to my heart.

The metaphors are conveyed in such a meticulous way which deeply connects with the poem's persona and their covert reticence, deep enough to show that these feelings are truly reserved in their depths. Overall, this beautifully correlates and connects to feelings of jealousy, what is hidden, and what is wanted.
