12900k, will i be able to use internal graphics at the same time as a GPU?

Tech Support

On my previous 11th gen build i had to disable internal graphics for the GPU to work. I'm hoping i can use both so the GPU is just on my gaming monitor. mobo is ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A.

I can help here because I’ve just gone through it. Go into bios and enable a feature called multi monitor desk top support. Save settings and reboot. Install Intel graphic command centre app and then shutdown. Connect gaming monitor to main gpu. Connect 2nd monitor to HDMI connection on motherboard. Turn on monitors and boot pc. Go to task manager and check to ensure both gpu s are working. You may need to adjust display settings. Easy. I use it in the same way you do. I’m not sure if there is an advantage. Must be I guess if you are taking tasks away from discrete gpu. Anyhow it’s fun and cool to have them both working. Ah other benefit is you can turn off monitors from control panel which is also cool.

Yes, it will work. Though from my experience I did a lot of rebooting.

Just try plugging both in and configure from the settings menu.

Worked fine on my new Z690 build, enabled it before installing Windows and everything’s functional.

Note that you may not have to physically isolate monitors like that for the desired result. It works just like a modern laptop, where you can pick which GPU to use for each application, regardless of where that monitor is connected.
