Gardening on a Budget: Cheap Light Reflection
I was trying to find a cheap solution to reflect the light back to my plants from my CFLs in my small new closet setup. While at the Dollar Tree picking up a bit of duct tape I stumbled upon some foil sided car windshield visors for only $1.00 each. They're 2'x5' and even have places to hang them. I picked up 4 of them and hung them on all 4 sides of my plants, now I have up to 5 1/2 feet or so of reflective surface. See here.
EDIT:I should mention there is no wall on 2 sides, if you have 4 sides just use flat white paint. This is about 3 feet of my 7.5ft wide closet and I can't paint it.
I thought this might help some of you that are growing on a budget like me. A $4.00 solution to light reflection. It's not the best but hey, it's $4.00.
I also got silly with some light adapters at Home Depot and made that CFL contraption in the middle. I added that yesterday along with the visors. I hope to get these girls growing fast. It was about $20 with the 4 bulbs. The lights on each side are also about $20/ea to make. Buy the adapters (needs 2 to clear the bell housing 1 extension and 1 Y-splitter) at home depot but buy the hood housing at wal-mart, it will save you $2-3.00 each.
All in all it worked pretty well and I'm excited to see how it all works.
Bonus: God Bud Girl 24 hours after being bent over for LST. Amazing little plants, all leaves have adjusted to the change already. So awesome.
