worst driving lesson
i’m a fairly new driver (17y) and I’ve been taking driving lessons for about 5-6 weeks now (twice a week). I have basic knowledge down and I’m comfortable driving around other cars and in main roads.
However, yesterday was probably the worst experience I had. My instructor took me to learn 3 point turns (this was only my second time learning) and I bombed it pretty bad because I have bad memory and the instructor was impatient. I was doing everything I could to remember but he started laughing and told me to just forget it. This destroyed my confidence ngl. Then we moved on to parking.
On the way to the parking lot, he was saying that I was putting in no effort to actually learn and he basically was saying that I didn’t know what I was doing. This made me a bit mad, but I kept it professional and just said sorry. When we get to the parking lot, there were many cars around and I was sort of nervous. I sucked at this too (third time parking)
The instructor got really frustrated and again, told me to forget it. He didn’t even try to go over the steps to parallel park. He then proceded to say that if I didn’t feel like driving that it was okay and to cancel the lesson next time. This particularly enraged me because I was in the mood to drive and I was trying my best to remember and do well but it seemed that he had no actual patience that day to teach. I did not say anything because I knew if I did it would’ve been something rude. At this point, I didn’t want to drive anymore because of his remarks and attitude.
On the drive back to the driver school, I made stupid mistakes because I was very frustrated and just wanted to leave. He said that I needed to start over again from the beginning and basically implied that I’m never going to learn. I told him that I just needed more clarification on 3 point turns and parking, I told him I knew the basics and there was no need to do this. This also hasn’t been the first experience with this instructor, in past lessons he has snapped his fingers at me just to change lanes and he just has little patience overall. I am a slow learner however and I don’t grasp things fast, so I am to blame at some part.
Just wanted to see if anyone could relate because I genuinely feel horrible anytime I have a driving lesson and it sucks because I really do want to learn. My last lesson is almost near and I’m somewhat glad.
