Reddit; Have you lost a parent to cancer?
My father ( Age 68 this November ) had kept his diagnosis from me for a good two years before screaming that he had cancer in my face while in a slight argument about my "lax attitude" towards my future. Now my childish belief that my father is an invincible creature of immortality has been brutally shattered and I often think about how life will be without him as if to prepare.
I really didn't want to ask anything on this topic, but I feel other stories might help me realize that losing a parent isn't the end of the world. ( Because it seems that way right now. )
Have any of you lost a parent to cancer? If so, how did you manage to get passed the loss? I understand the already obvious, "They're in a better place/Not suffering" anymore, but it's a parent. I find the severity of the loss different from an Aunt or Uncle passing. I've had my share of those, and not to sound insensitive - but they were easily moved passed.
