Red lips help?

I've always wanted to get the perfect red lips but I either have to choose between a lipstick which runs off after an hour or two or the stains/colorstays which always seem to look great but flake off after a while. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to getting long lasting, popping color red lips or any brands that they prefer when trying to rock the bold red lip?
