Was supposed to hear back by the "end of the week" but haven't yet. What to do?

Hello r/jobs. I had a job interview last Friday and it went pretty well (she said I was a very strong candidate, but she had a few other people to interview too). Near the end of the interview, she mentioned that I would be hearing from them by the end of the week about the position. Yesterday went by, and the end of the work week is gone.

My question is, should I e-mail to inquire about when I would hear back and that I am still interested in the position(s), or do you think she is just busy still trying to figure out who to fill for the position(s)? I just don't want to seem too pushy but at the same time people suggest showing initiative...

I really want this position, for many reasons that I won't go into. Thanks a lot for any recommendations.
