Just passed my General! Need to do HF on a budget.

Got done with my General test this morning, and I've been itching to get on the HF bands. Problem is, I'm not going to have that much money. I'm going to be working this summer and I'd like to hear your opinions on good, cheap HF gear (If that's even a thing!) and what kind of equipment I could buy on a budget. I was looking to spend between 400 to 500 dollars on a transceiver and either making a dipole, or mounting a vertical.
