I am all for the HP circlejerk that the books usually are, but is there any part of the HP books that bother or annoy you? I'll start.
Nothing big - I find few faults with the stories in general, but for some reason, this ALWAYS makes me cringe.
In OOtP, when Umbridge is confronting Dumbledore about the DA, she brings in Marietta. She is then confounded by Shacklebolt and shakes her head repeatedly no in response to Umbridge's questions, much to her annoyance. Umbridge then asks "what do you mean by shaking your head?"
McGonagall's response bothers the crap out of me for some reason - particularly the "so unless she's using a form of sign language yet unknown to humans..." (or something to that effect - sorry if it's not an exact quote)
All I could think when I first read it and every subsequent time was "...really? Best insult you could come up with there?" McGonagall is usually much more witty and sharp than that, so it just felt so awkward and out of character for her.
There are others, but as I was just rereading that section, it sticks out in my mind. :P
So is there any section of the books that stick out as a bother to you? A plot hole? Misspelling? Weird character? I just wanna hear what other people have observed!
