First Crash Today: Very stupid and **VERY** lucky...
I knew it would happen eventually. It happened. After 3 months of riding I finally went down, and it was such a beginner mistake it disgusts me.
Me and some friends were riding an airport perimeter road with some pretty great turns, I came up on one with a bit too much speed. I saw I was going to go down either way with the edge of the road approaching; luckily the only thing on either side of the road was flat grass. I basically had the choice to either continue leaning and ride my way off of the road at speed, or to straighten up and make at least some attempt of slowing down before leaving the road. I chose the latter option. Here's where the stupidity kicks in...
Being that I had the bike ALMOST straight up, I should have just slowed down, and rode the bike casually off onto the flat roadside... I probably wouldn't have even dropped the bike. Unfortunately something in my idiotic brain triggered when I saw the side of the road coming and told me to keep pushing harder on the rear brake. It locked. I didn't have the bike all the way up. I highsided into the grass (luckily).
Thankfully I was BARELY leaning when my rear locked and going pretty slow, so it wasn't that bad at all. Highside is a pretty scary word but it was pretty gentle (I wasn't "thrown"), and it all happened in the grass (I never even touched road) so I can't complain. I'll put all the info below but the bike and I are basically undamaged. I'll put a picture up later.
Bike Damage: Light scratches all over the front right fairing from sliding in the grass (it will probably buff out), slightly bent handlebars.
Rider Damage: Nothing. I think I pulled something in my right leg but it's not bad.
Gear: Helmet, gloves, A-stars SMX5 boots (were between my right leg and the bike at one point), A-stars TGP Air Jacket.
Lessons Learned: Don't lock rear brakes when going off the road... so stupid...
