Email from jeb_ to my son
I have two sons who are both autistic. My oldest is 8 years old and pretty much live for Minecraft! He's very skilled with redstone mechanics and automation and builds with an extreme speed...
The downside with his autism is that he constantly require new challenges and mods and he's asking me every day "when's next version coming?" Tomorrow? Next week? I can only answer "I don't know" but this is not accepted since he needs to know...
This morning I told him to email jeb_ instead of asking me and he said Ok! His communication skills are way under par due to his autism but he wrote the email where he asked when the 1.3 release was due and a few other things... (in Swedish) This weekend is midsummer and everyone's off work...
About four hours later his mobile phone sounded and there was a reply from jeb_ himself!
I had sent an email to jeb_ prior to inform him about my autistic son and the fact that he was going to send an email but I didn't expect a reply on Saturday during midsummer weekend!!!
This is my way of sending massive gratitude to jeb_ and enormous respect for the work and the fact that you took time to answer an 8 year old autistic boy. This ment a lot for him!!!
I often think about what the world's becoming with greed and money ruling but this is proof that real people still exists!
Many thanks from a father whos son went to bed very happy tonight!
p.s First post so I hope I didn't break any rules...
edit: Thanks for the enormous response we got and this was never intended nor any goal... I only wanted to extend my gratitude to jeb_ and let the rest of the gaming community know what a "simple reply" to an email can mean for someone that lives a different and difficult life than most of us...
The reply to my son about the release date was "I don't know" and the reason why but that was all he needed to hear. Indie devs rules - even after they become big! True people and true believes.
