Transfering a Wordpress site to a new host.

Is there a way through FTP to copy ALL of the content, theme, pages, and upload it into the new host? Earlier today I did a fresh WP install at the new host and imported the XML file, but I lost all of my theme settings. Theres got to be a better way... Thoughts?

I sincerely appreciate any and all suggestions.
