Dear grad students of Reddit, I am writing a dissertation synopsis and am confused about whether a historiography should necessarily have different material from a literature survey, can you help?

So, I know what the essential difference between the two is (Historiography - treatment of subject in question through the course of history, Lit. Review -review of available literature on the subject) however it seems to me that a lot of my references in these two sections intersect. I am not sure if that is correct and it is too late at night/early in the morning to ask people around me who would know. I have to get this done in a couple of hours and I am suddenly riddled with doubt at this point.

I'm pretty sure this will get buried but taking a chance nonetheless. =/
