Cottage Industry in Communist/Socialist society
So, let's say that a communist society exists where means of production are democratically owned.
Some factory worker enjoys building chairs as a hobby, and that's great, because he lives on land with an ample supply of wood. He carves and builds chairs in his free time, which happen to be of better quality (or just more unique) than the ones that are mass produced by factories. His friends and family really like them, and he ends up trading some chairs for extra food, nicer clothing, etc.
What then?
