Any Scooter/Moped owners out there?

So I'm thinking of buying a moped but I know absolutely nothing about them and none of my friends own one either. I want one mainly for the gas efficiency and because my work isn't too far from my house. Can anyone recommend a really good beginner bike? I'm looking for something that can go about 55-60mph. Year, make, color don't really matter. I'd most likely end up buying a used one because it's more affordable.

Also if anyone is in the Atlanta, GA area and can recommend an actual store that sells used bikes that would be awesome. Thanks!
