Did any famous people from antiquity (or any time before the 17th century) make predictions about 21st century?
Difficult to word this question, but, did any famous poets, philosophers, scientists, politicians, etc, from any time before the 17th century (or even as far back as antiquity) make predictions (regardless of accuracy) about what life/technology/the world would be like in the 21st century?
I know that in the 1950's, there were plenty of science fiction-fans who wrote about what would come about in the 21st century. So I'm wondering if any people who were around before mass communication or the industrial revolution predicted what life would be like now.
