Problems with XP mode, program not launching (more info inside)

I recently installed XP mode to enjoy some older games that were not working properly on Win 7. First game I tried is Dark Reign, downloaded it while in XP mode from gog.com, following all directions given. Following directions, I closed out of XP mode, went to XP mode applications in Win 7, and selected Dark Reign. It fails to start, giving me this error: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on OK to terminate the application". What do I need to do to make this work, or will it never work for me?
